Beyond the campus

CECD's outreach connects working researchers to Maryland K-12 students, teachers, undergraduates from other institutions, and the wider public. The goal is straightforward: bring people into the field who would not otherwise see themselves in it.

Programs

Active outreach programs.

Each program runs in partnership with UMD's Clark School and the broader energetics community. Teachers, school administrators, and undergraduates from other institutions can contact the center to discuss taking part.

  • K-12

    K-12 partnerships

Working with Prince George's County schools to bring CECD researchers into Maryland classrooms, so students meet the people doing the science.

  • Undergraduate

    Summer placements

REU-style summer placements for undergraduates from peer institutions inside active CECD research groups.

  • Educators

    Teacher workshops

Annual workshops that translate energetics-research concepts into materials teachers can use directly in the high-school classroom.

  • Public

    Public lectures

Periodic public lectures on the science of energetic materials, hosted on the College Park campus.
